AVIATION AFRICA SUMMIT & EXHIBITION NOMINATED FOR 3 AWARDS AT THE EN INDY AWARDS 2019
Release Date: 11 September 2019
Aviation Africa is nominated in three categories for “Best International Event” “Indy Organiser Team of the Year” and “Best Show Feature” – for the Silent Conference.
The awards scheme, organised by Exhibition News, is dedicated to recognising the achievements of independent organiser shows, teams and individuals. The judging panel is made up of leading experts from the event industry including representatives from venues, suppliers and independent event organisers.
Aviation Africa is nominated for “Best International Event” for the 2019 event held in Kigali, Rwanda in February this year. The event grew overall by 35% and 92% of attendees rated the event Good/Excellent, with 93% of exhibitors saying they would exhibit again.
By working as one team Times Aerospace along with Aerocomm and Access Group has built a world-beating team who are experienced, respected and able to launch and run events in parts of the world that most other aviation event organisers would never dare to tread. The reason they have been nominated for “Indy Organiser Team of the Year”.
The “Best Show Feature” nomination was for the introduction of a silent conference at the 2019 event, which combined the exhibition and conference in one hall where all delegates and speakers listened via headphones so the business in the exhibition hall was not disturbed. “The silent conference was a great idea because business continued as usual at the exhibitions and no one was disrupted. Genius idea!” – Aviation Africa Delegate.
Mark Brown, Director of Times Aerospace Events said “We are really delighted to be nominated in the EN Indy Awards 2019, this is the 4th Aviation Africa event we have organised as a team and we have all put in a lot of time, experience and expertise to get the event to this stage and are rightly proud of how far it has progressed in a relatively short time”

AVIATION AFRICA 2018 OPENED WITH STRONG GROWTH PREDICTIONS FOR AFRICAN AVIATION MARKET
Release Date: 17 April 2018
The Aviation Africa Summit and Exhibition taking place today and tomorrow - 17-18 April 2018 in Cairo, Egypt - opened today to 980 attendees from 56 countries where the key message from the Summit’s first day was the strong growth predictions for the African aviation market.
The event opened just a few months after the African Union launched the Single African Air Traffic Market (SAATM), which 23 countries have subscribed to so far. The SAATM is de-regulated airspace, which has been set up to open up African skies, potentially increasing the aviation market in Africa and reducing air transportation costs by 25%.
Boeing’s long-term market outlook forecasts that air traffic for the continent’s commercial airlines will grow 5.9 percent annually between 2017 and 2036, and that African carriers will need 1,220 new airplanes to meet this growth.
Safwat Musallam, Chairman, Egyptair Holding Company gave the Welcome Keynote Address from the hosts and focused on how the group is looking to new horizons for the future.
The event features an exhibition hall of 118 global aerospace companies including Gold Sponsors: Airbus, Boeing & GE Aviation and Silver Sponsors: AerCap, Bombardier, Dubai Aerospace Enterprise & Rolls-Royce.
Exhibitors are finding the networking at the show the key to their participation, Simon Knechtli, Executive Director Aerospace, Willis Towers Watson said; “In being committed to Egyptian aviation, the Aviation Africa 2018 is a great opportunity for us to meet our network.”
The attendees reached a new record total for the event of 980. The delegates and visitors to the event span 56 countries and include 386 personnel from 42 airlines and 50 speakers from across Africa and internationally.
Aviation Africa 2018 is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Aviation, Republic of Egypt, with Egyptair as host airline and aerospace group.
The Aviation Africa event takes place at the Intercontinental City Stars on April 17-18 2018. It is a business-to-business exhibition offering networking opportunities for airlines, government representatives, manufacturers and service providers.
